ART DESCRIPTION
This is a totally unique work that uses a paper bag as the base of the work. Kamen loved using humble materials (often using paper from a fish and chip shop, that would be used to wrap the food, as well as some works on Hoover bags and paper bags, although these are rare), which is typical of his reverence of humble, unnoticed details that so many would miss. A true visionary, he had the ability to find the unseen treasure in amongst the mass of our material culture and elevate it to a work of art. This work, then, is a collage using a postcard of an Old Master picture with a pasted cut-out of a fierce dog placed as the head of the seated figure. The pink adhesive plaster motif is visible below. The phrase of KILL OR KISS is a also a wordplay on ‘KILLER KISS’, killer being a Buffalo-related term meaning very stylish, the height of cool.
